Springfield Police looking for Craigslist robber
They say a Medford man drove to Springfield to buy a car he saw listed on the Craigslist Web site, but became a robbery victim instead.
The robbery happened at an apartment complex parking lot on Oakdale Avenue , but it started at a different apartment complex on Lindale Drive . That is where Anthony Dagostino of Medford agreed to meet the man who placed the ad to sell the car. The “seller” then asked Dagostino to drive him to the apartments on Oakdale, saying that was where the car for sale was parked.
When the two pulled into the parking lot at the Oakdale apartments, the robber showed a gun and demanded cash—the $4,000 that Dagostino intended to use to pay for the car. Police say the victim then ran from his car to a nearby apartment for help; the suspect also ran off. Police are looking for a Hispanic man in his mid-20's. He is between 5’10” and 6 feet tall, with a medium build and scruffy facial hair. The robber was armed with a handgun and was wearing a white zip-up sweatshirt.
Anyone who has information about the suspect or the robbery is asked to call Springfield Police.
